To obtain the MAC address of your Windows PC for a wired internet connection, the instructions vary depending upon the current operating system (OS) of your computer. Click on this link to be taken to a Microsoft website that will detect the Windows OS of the computer you are currently using.

 

Note: MAC/Adapter addresses are in the form of yy-yy-yy-yy-yy-yy. They do not, however, begin with 44, as in this example: 44-yy-yy-yy-yy-yy.

 

Windows 10

  1. Click the Start icon.
  2. In the Search box, type cmd and press Enter.
  3. At the command prompt, type: getmac /v and press Enter.
  4. On the Ethernet line, the combination of twelve letters and numbers listed under Physical Address is the MAC address.
     

Windows 8.1

  1. From the Start screen, type cmd.
  2. Click Command Prompt on the left under Apps.
  3. At the command prompt, type: getmac /v and press Enter.
  4. On the Local Area Conn line, the combination of twelve letters and numbers listed under Physical Address is the MAC address.
